Our Approach
We are not a traditional grantmaker. Rather than providing one-off funding to a wide range of groups, we focus on strategic partnerships where we can invest time, resources, and influence to support transformative change. Our mahi is grounded in:
Systems Influence and Advocacy: We support organisations that are working to shift the conditions that hold inequities in place, focusing on long-term solutions rather than short-term fixes.
High-Trust Relationships: We build partnerships based on mutual respect, shared learning, and a commitment to collective impact.
Proactive Funding: We seek out organisations whose work aligns with our priorities. As a result, we do not have an open application process, and we rarely fund unsolicited proposals.
What This Means for You
If you’re considering reaching out to us please take into account the following:
We do not operate a contestable funding round or accept general funding applications.
Our funding is targeted and strategic, focused on initiatives that align closely with our priorities around systems change, advocacy, and long-term impact.
We are always open to learning about impactful mahi in our region, but most of our partnerships are proactively initiated by us.
Our Focus Areas
We prioritise funding for organisations that:
Are Māori-led or work in strong partnership with Māori communities, upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Focus on advocacy, systems change, and influencing policy to address root causes of inequality.
Drive environmental sustainability and champion kaitiakitanga for future generations.
Building Connections
While we may not be the right fit for every organisation, we value connections across the Waikato and beyond. If your mahi aligns with our strategic focus, we may reach out to explore potential partnership opportunities.
