The Len Reynolds Trust has launched a new logo that reflects its new strategic priorities and an enduring commitment to fostering intergenerational wellbeing and environmental stewardship in the Waikato region.
The design, a contemporary reinterpretation of traditional weaving (raranga), highlights the intrinsic connections between people, the environment, and the values that underpin the Trust’s work. The harakeke (flax) elements within the logo represent growth and vitality, while the interwoven structure conveys unity and collaboration.
The logo aligns with the Trust’s strategic direction, which emphasises collaboration with Māori-led initiatives, addressing intergenerational equity, and fostering a deep connection to Papatūānuku (Earth Mother).
Melissa Gibson, Chief Executive Officer of the Len Reynolds Trust, shares her insights saying, “The weaving pattern is a tribute to our collective heritage and shared future. It mirrors our values of manaakitanga and inclusivity, and the enduring partnerships we seek to build with our communities.”
This visual refresh is part of a broader shift within the Trust, which includes realigning funding priorities, strengthening governance, and advocating for systemic changes to support environmental and social equity initiatives.
“This new design is a statement of who we are and where we’re headed," says Gibson. "As well as symbolising connections from the maunga (mountain), awa (rivers) through to the moana (ocean), the upward-pointing arrow also reflects our clarity of purpose and direction as we champion a climate-resilient future and intergenerational wellbeing for all in our community”.
From a bird's-eye view, the design can also evoke the image of a manu or whai, further reinforcing our connection to nature, culture, and identity. Additionally, the visual resemblance to a whare symbolises a safe haven.
We would like to thank the team at Taputapu Design for their thoughtful, creative developments and enabling us to develop a tohu which communicates the bond between generations and the enduring relationship between people and our surroundings.
The Len Reynolds Trust logos are available for use by community groups that receive funding support from the Trust.
