For nearly six decades, the Len Reynolds Trust has been supporting innovation in community development and environmental restoration across the Waikato region, reflecting the values of its founders, Len and Ada Reynolds. Following 18 months of workshops, consultations, and collaboration with trustees and key stakeholders, the Trust has unveiled a bold new strategic plan.
A Vision for Thriving Generations
The new strategic plan reaffirms the Trust’s foundational commitment to education and community wellbeing and sets a transformative vision for the future - one that embraces social equity, environmental stewardship, and a deep respect for Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
At the heart of the Trust’s renewed direction is a vision of a Waikato where all children and young people are secure, resilient, and thriving. This vision recognizes the need for systemic change to empower new generations of leaders and advocates while addressing structural inequities.
The Trust’s approach is rooted in humility, acknowledging the privileges of its position and the responsibilities that come with it. By committing to listening, learning, and partnership, the Trust aims to foster a future where Māori-led solutions, sustainable development, and social cohesion are central.
An Environmental Focus: Honouring Papatūānuku
Climate resilience and environmental stewardship take center stage in the Trust’s environmental goal:
To champion a climate-resilient future in the Waikato, fostering intergenerational wellbeing and environmental stewardship through systemic influence, advocacy, and collaboration.
This commitment goes beyond traditional conservation efforts by embracing the intrinsic connection between land, people, and tangata whenua. It places Māori perspectives, values, and practices—such as kaitiakitanga (guardianship)—at the forefront of environmental initiatives.
Values That Shape Action
The Len Reynolds Trust has articulated a set of values that guide its mission:

By aligning its work with the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and honouring the enduring values of its founders, the Trust is poised to be a catalyst for transformative change.
This strategy is a reminder that generosity, when paired with humility and innovation, has the power to shape a brighter future—for our tamariki, our whenua, and generations yet to come.
